Gavin Clifton joins Cerebral Palsy Cymu as an Ambassador
October 06 2025
Gavin Clifton is a bestselling children’s author, known for his children’s books ‘Max and the Magic Wish’ and ‘Paddy the Polar Bear Teddy’.
Gavin has been a valued advocate and supporter of our work since 2021, raising awareness and contributing through raffles, fundraising challenges, and collaborations during Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month. His commitment and passion have already made a lasting impact on our community.

We are delighted to have Gavin join us as an ambassador on World Cerebral Palsy Day, a day for creating awareness and celebrating achievements of the cerebral palsy community.
Today also marks the launch of Gavin’s latest book, Cerebral Palsy and Me, Second Edition, an inspiring and eye-opening autobiography that shares his lived experience with cerebral palsy.
Growing up with cerebral palsy, I’ve faced barriers, not just physical ones, but attitudinal ones, assumptions, and low expectations.
That’s why being asked to become an Ambassador for Cerebral Palsy Cymru means so much. This charity understands the reality. They give children and families across Wales the early support and therapy that can make a lasting difference.
Their work is about possibility, dignity, and showing disabled children that they matter, it’s okay to be different, accepted, and accept others.
I’m proud to use my voice to support that message, to raise awareness, challenge outdated thinking, and help make sure every child with cerebral palsy has the chance to be seen for who they are, not what others assume.
Marie Wood, Interim Chief Executive at Cerebral Palsy Cymru, added:
We are delighted to welcome Gavin on board as our newest Ambassador for Cerebral Palsy Cymru on World Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day. As a talented writer, speaker and advocate with lived experience of cerebral palsy, Gavin brings a powerful voice that will inspire others and help us raise awareness of the vital work we do.
