Morocco: New Year in the Sahara Trek

Enter the New Year in the Sahara and spend it under the stars of a desert sky. Start 2025 as you mean to go on as we trek through the Moroccan Sahara.

This event is organised by an external company called The Different Travel Company.

Welcome in the new year by spending it under the stars of the Saharan sky. This trek in the Moroccan Sahara gives you an insight into this vast and diverse landscape as well as the Berber way of life.

You will spend two full days and two half days trekking across ancient dried-up river beds, sand dunes, and vast sun-baked plains. Camping each night gives you a chance to experience the stunning stars in the night sky (weather permitting) and the traditional Berber cuisine cooked by the team is second to none.

After the first full day of trekking, gather together around the campfire and see in the New Year with good food and the sound of Auld Lang Syne.

A non-refundable £375 registration fee is payable at the time of booking.

You then have the following options to pay your remaining trip cost balance:

1. Sponsorship: You fundraise £1,950 by 4 October 2024 for Cerebral Palsy Cymru. This includes your
£975 tour costs balance and a £975 donation to charity.

2. Flexi: You pay your £975 trip costs yourself by 4 October 2024 and fundraise £975 for Cerebral Palsy Cymru. Any fundraising cannot be used to pay for your trip costs.

If you do not already regularly exercise you should aim to start training (including plenty of hills) as early as possible. The best training is hill walking, which will prepare you for the type of terrain you will experience. Other activities which can complement hill walking include running, cycling, gym workouts, boot camps etc.

Building up your core and leg muscle strength is important so exercises such as squats, lunges, push-ups, planks and crunches will really enhance your training. These exercises can be done at home – no gym needed. You can download a number of free apps, which will help you train and track your progress, e.g. MapMyWalk, C25K (couch to 5k run), MyFitnessPal (for a variety of sports).

You must take your training seriously and arrive as fit as you can be, so you get the most out of this challenge.
