Our Patrons & Ambassadors

The Duchess of Gloucester has been our Royal Patron since we opened in 1992.

Her Royal Highness has been a great support to the centre; she has visited on many occasions and has been part of many of our most significant moments, including opening our extension in 2002 and attending our 15th Birthday Ball in 2007. More recently she visited the centre to meet staff and families involved in our early intervention service, Better Start, Better Future. 

Her Royal Highness is always interested in what is happening at Cerebral Palsy Cymru and during the recent Covid crisis contacted us to see how our families were managing in difficult circumstances. We are grateful for her support.

Lindsay Doyle is a long-term supporter of Cerebral Palsy Cymru and has dedicated his spare time to help raise awareness of the charity. Born and bred in Talbot Green, Lindsay spent his working years in finance and business development roles where he made a huge impact on Welsh business. On retiring, Lindsay spends his time not only helping us as a charity but also other local children’s charities.

Matthew Rhys Evans is a Welsh actor. He is known for playing Kevin Walker in Brothers & Sisters (2006–2011) and Philip Jennings in The Americans (2013–2018), for which he received two Golden Globe Award nominations and a Primetime Emmy Award. His mother, Helen, is a close friend and volunteer at Cerebral Palsy Cymru.

Margaret Williams has been one of Wales’ most popular singers for the past 40 years, having recorded over 20 of her own TV series, “Margaret Williams” for S4C, and BBC Wales. As an actress, Margaret Williams has appeared in numerous shows ranging from the BBC’s “Life and Times of David Lloyd George” to the present day “Pobol y Cwm” on S4C.

Lynn Bowles is a British broadcaster and a former traffic reporter for BBC Radio. Since 2 November 2014, she has presented a weekly Sunday afternoon show on BBC Radio Wales. Lynn has supported our ‘A Question of Women’ events for many years and is a great supporter of the charity.

Bonnie Tyler is a Welsh singer, known for her distinctive husky voice. Two of her singles “It’s a Heartache” and “Total Eclipse of the Heart” are among the best-selling singles of all time, with sales in excess of six million each. Her work has earned her two Grammy Award nominations and three Brit Award nominations, among other accolades. Her latest album Between the Earth and the Stars was released on 15 March 2019. Although she is regularly on the road performing in countries across the world, she still regularly supports our campaigns and fundraising appeals.

Mark Lewis Jones is a Welsh actor heavily trained on the theatrical stage. He has been a part of many theatrical shows including Royal Shakespeare Company, and at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.  His extensive television work includes appearances on 55 Degrees North (2004), Waking the Dead (2000) and the Hallmark production, Jason and the Argonauts (2000). After 2010, Mark continued his work on the small screen, appearing throughout different series most notably on the medieval fantasy series, Game of Thrones (2011). In support of the charity, Mark has been a guest speaker at our ‘A Question of Women’ event, has attended several networking events at our centre and featured in a short video about the work we do on BBC Children in Need 2019.

Sir Bryn Terfel is a Welsh bass-baritone opera and concert singer from Caernarfonshire, North Wales. He has performed around the world in some of the most prestigious venues, including the Royal Opera House (London) and the Metropolitan Opera (New York), and received a knighthood for his service to music in 2017.
