Early Intervention and Assessment for Infants and young children at high risk of neurodevelopmental problems– a practical and evidence-based approach.

This course is a comprehensive overview of assessment and early intervention from birth to 12 months encompassing the Ei SMART approach.

This updated early intervention course will be delivered in 2 parts.

Part 1 will be delivered virtually starting in February 2022 and will be the equivalent of 3 days of education time. 

Part 2 will consist of 3 days in June 2022 at Cerebral Palsy Cymru, Cardiff, Wales and will focus on translating acquired knowledge into practical skills working with babies/infants and their families with guidance and support from the course tutors.


2022 confirmed dates

Monday 14 February 2022 – Full day online – work will be given that will need to be completed prior to the Live Tutorials

Tuesday 15 February – 6.30pm – 7.30pm - a Tutorial to discuss topics and ask questions arising from the course on the 14 February

Tuesday 8 March, Tuesday 5 April, Tuesday 3 May & Tuesday 24 May – a Live 1hr Tutorial (not recorded) – compulsory attendance required - 6.30pm to 7.30pm

Monday 20 June to Saturday 25 June – Three-day attendance either Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday or Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Unfortunately, there will not be any flexibility on the dates provided by the Tutors. These Practical Sessions will be held at Cerebral Palsy Cymru, Cardiff.

This course provides essential training for physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists working with high-risk infants in the NICU and in the community during the first year of life.

The course is led by the highly experienced early intervention course tutors, Christine Barber and Betty Hutchon.

The cost of this course is £1,055.
